About the story:
The story deals with a low paid factory worker named Sanku.He faces many economical problems because he gets only one rupee a day.He has a family having a wife and two children(third one is to come in the world). How a man struggles with his problems is shown in the story. He had taken a lot of money on loan .he owes tit-bits to many shopkeepers.To get rid of all the economical problems an evil idea entered his mind.And this idea was to steal the gold watch of his factory engineer who leaves it on his table during the lunch hour.Being driven by his pressing needs he committed the theft of stealing the gold watch of his boss. But he was not a habitual thief.So his conscience pricked him.Afterwards he wasdeeply afraid of being detected and punished,he put back the gold watch at the place from where he took it and came out of the engineer's office hurriedly.The story originally written in Malayalam and then translated into English by K.ayyappa paniker.THe story teaches us that our needs compel us to do what we cdo not like to do.
